Please Tell Us the Truth About Privacy and Covid-19 Tracking App - La verità, vi prego, su privacy e App Covid-19” online seminar (in Italian) is a free event and open to everyone. This webinar organized by the Sant’Anna School Dirpolis Institute LiderLab for Law, Politics and Development Studies is designed to explore trends and key issues related to the current Covid-19 crisis. Privacy and safety concerns are becoming a persistent trend and the privacy implications of using data from apps, sensors or cameras are still unclear.  Moving to the second phase of response to the Covid-19 via a mobile app that trace the route of transmission will likely become a mass/social media-induced critical debate.

The privacy implications will go beyond the Covid-19 crisis and will continue discussions in the coming months. Professor of Comparative Private Law Giovanni Comandé and the Director of the LiderLab as a specialist in data protection and privacy will help solve the data privacy conundrum through this interdisciplinary online conference scheduled on Thursday, April 30, from 6.00 to 7.00 pm. By balancing the need of surveillance technologies, public safety and personal privacy, experts will share their knowledge so we can make some progress on these very serious issues.

The “Please Tell Us the Truth About Privacy and Covid-19 Tracking App - La verità, vi prego, su privacy e App Covid-19” webinar speakers include Stefano Tessaro (Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Washington), Christian D’Cunha (European Commission, DG CNET), Michele Loi (University of Zurich, Digital Society Initiative Department), Fosca Giannotti (Cnr Pisa). Giovanni Comandé will provide the closing remarks for the webinar. Denise Amram (Sant’Anna School) will introduce the speakers and Gianclaudio Malgieri (LSTS, Vrije Universiteit Brussel) acts as the moderator.
